Jalandhar, November 11

The Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha announced that it would hold a “Chetavni March”, against the state government’s education policies, outside the residence of Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains in Anandpur Sahib on November 13 . The decision was taken at a meeting of the Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha.

The leaders explained that the Chetavni march was organized to protest against the implementation of the national education policy in the state. The march is also organized to press teachers’ demands, such as the regularization of contract teachers, the merger of IT teachers in the education department, the full implementation of the old pension scheme, the creation of class positions in primary and subject positions in secondary education and for the removal of gaps in the salary commission, among others.

A meeting with the Minister of Education was then scheduled for October 12. However, not all of their problems could be solved. The proposal for a pre-Diwali meeting was also met with no response. Teachers could participate in the march in large numbers.
