Plea against Ranveer Singh’s Simmba for using the Beverage Company trademark
A plea has been filed against the Bollywood film Simba, starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles, for trademark infringement of a beverage company. The Delhi High Court has asked for a response from the directors of the film.
Sona Beverages, a Chhattisgarh-based company that owns a brand called Simba, has sent a notice to manufacturers of Simba. The company uses the Simba brand for soft drinks, beer and mineral water. The court asked the two sides to come to an agreement, failing which the case will be heard on December 4. The film, directed by Rohit Shetty, is slated to hit screens on December 28.
“Respondent’s lawyer (Rohit Shetty Picturez) was also advised that the defendant should respond to the plaintiff’s opinion (Sona Beverages) and also explore the possibility of an arrangement, failing which, on the date next, the case will be heard, “the court said in its Nov. 2 order, according to a DNA report.
Sara, daughter of actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, begins her Bollywood journey with Kedarnath and Simba. In a previous interview with IANS, she said: âWe can say that there is pressure because two films are in the running, but there are also advantages that I cannot deny. I have two films and I am really lucky to ask for work from filmmakers like Abhishek Kapoor sir and Rohit Shetty sir, I did my best to justify the opportunity.
