Actors’ Equity Association endorses Judy Chu for U.S. House of Representatives

The National Council of the Actors’ Equity Association has voted in favor of Representative Judy Chu’s re-election campaign for the United States Congress on behalf of more than 51,000 actors and directors working in live entertainment.

“Representative Chu has been a critically important champion of the arts. Under her leadership, our Tax Fairness Bill has grown to nearly 90 cosponsors with bipartisan support,” said Al Vincent Jr., Director executive of the Actors’ Equity Association. “I am thrilled that we have such a powerful ally as Rep. Chu on our side who is fighting for arts workers and I look forward to continuing to work with her to help middle-class arts workers as we let’s help rebuild the arts economy after the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Equity’s public policy priorities include defending and protecting the right to bargain collectively, a prevailing wage in the arts, racial justice, a strong minimum wage, more federal and state funding for the arts, prevention of gun violence, universal federal health care, tax fairness, and LGBTQ non-discrimination protections.
