Bombay: Police in Vile Parle convicted a man for allegedly using the header and logo of a well-known media company in Mumbai and deceiving dozens of people under the pretext of job offers. The accused, Kunal Goswami, lured people into offering them a job at an established television station, only to deceive them. He was convicted under the relevant articles of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act for cheating.
Police said the plaintiff learned that a man, identified as Kunal Goswami, posted a post on an OLX social networking site, in which he used the brand’s logo and letterhead. media and entertainment company Viacom18. In the post, which was uploaded on June 6 last year, Goswami also used company letterhead and called for vacancies on Viacom’s Colors channel.
The complainant learned that Goswami fraudulently used the brand’s logo and letterhead to attract people for jobs at the renowned company and charged them money for securing the positions to date . After this information came to light, the complainant immediately approached the Vile Parle police and filed a complaint against Goswami.
While the police convicted Goswami under the relevant articles of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act for cheating, impersonation, forgery, using forged documents as genuine in electronic format, they did not has not yet arrested the accused. Police are looking for Goswami and are trying to determine how many victims fell prey to the scam and how much money he stole from job seekers.
